Classroom Instrumental Learning Programmes for Schools
FREE instruments from the DfE instrument fund are available for Classroom Instrumental Learning programmes
CMA can provide a FREE class set of ukuleles, keyboards and guitars for Key Stage 2
FREE instruments are also available for extending choice through introductory courses for string, woodwind and brass instruments at Key Stages 2 and 3, ranging from one term large group projects to a one year whole class programme with two CMA staff.
The Schools Support Hub has resources for integrating instrumental learning into the curriculum.
Primary Classroom Programmes
Primary classroom programmes can be taught by CMA or school staff using CMA’s Scheme of Work and Exemplar Resources.
CMA primary scheme of learning and guidance supports cross-arts collaborations and links to Relationship Education and other areas of the curriculum.
Children are encouraged to develop and discover their interests and talents across different performance specialisms.
Building on how children learn naturally through play and imitation, CMA resources support informal self-directed learning which can be used by non-specialists to teach drama, dance, singing, percussion, ukulele, keyboard and guitar.
Young musicians and artists are able to celebrate their achievements through RSL Star Award.
Children are introduced to orchestral instruments through play-along videos of young Croydon musicians.
If classroom programmes are taught by CMA strings or winds staff, those instruments will always be viable for group lessons in school.
The CMA Future Talent programme (for those showing enthusiasm for further development) will offer free introductory courses in CMA Library or Star Classes, including having the opportunity to learn any instrument of their choice.
