Star Award
Star Award is a new qualification we are developing with RSL Exam Board for children in Key Stages 2 and 3. They will be available for all the music and arts specialisms taught through Croydon Music and Arts, and also for each of the arts subjects taught in school, Music, Dance, Drama and Visual Arts.
Through Star Award you can track your development as a young musician or artist. Star Award is a stepping stone to higher level grade exams and GCSE or other vocational qualifications. If you achieve Star 5 you will be on track for a good GCSE in that subject.
If you are taking part in CMA activity we shall tell you when you are ready to take Star Award and which level.
You can also take Star Award if your teacher at school recommends it for you.
This is how the process works:
Parents and carers complete an online application form
Complete a series of assessment tasks with your teacher
You also upload a performance / presentation of your work
One of CMA’s trained teacher / assessors will approve your work or let you know what needs to be done to meet the standard
Once you have met the standard your performance / presentation will be submitted to RSL for moderation
Once approved by RSL you will receive a certificate
